We'll meet you at the Chiang Rai International Airport and bring you to Tigerland Rice Farm. When you are comfortably settled in at our Farmer's Lodge, we'll give you an orientation tour of the farm. You'll enjoy a good dinner and have an early rest. |
Day 2: |
After a big breakfast, you'll prepare your paddy field for sowing. It means irrigating the field adequately with stream water, trimming the sides of the plot and levelling the soil. It'll be a healthy dose of labour under the sun so let's relax with a refreshing dip at the river. For dinner, you'll enjoy a bamboo rice feast. |
Day 3: |
This is a fun day of sowing when you'll transplant the rice seedlings from the nursery to the paddy field you painstakingly prepared the day before. You'll appreciate the back-bending effort of the rice farmers. We'll enjoy a evening out in Chiang Rai town and you may shop till you drop at the Night Bazaar. |
Day 4: |
You'll complete the transplanting and sowing of seedlings at your rice paddy by early afternoon, and stand back to proudly appreciate your effort. After lunch, we'll enjoy a stroll to a nearby Lahu Village and to experience the natural beauty and richness of the farm country - rivers, plants, fruits, vegetables and wild life. After dinner, we'll explore the paddy and see what creatures come alive there in the night. With luck, you'll see the magic of the fire-flies. |
Day 5: |
Your visit to Chiang Rai would be incomplete without an appreciation of the rich diversity of the Hill Tribes in this region. So we'll bring you on a tribal tour to visit the Yao, Akha and Padong hill tribes to learn about their lifestyle and culture. In the evening, you'll learn Bamboo Weaving and you're welcome to weave as many items as you delight to bring home. |

6-Day Rice Harvesting Experience (October - November)
The dry, cool months of October/November is the happy season of reaping, marking the end of yet another year of gainful harvest. If you've planted the rice in June/July, we shall try to allocate the same plot for you to harvest your own rice. Holding a handful of golden rice grains, recollecting how you'd planted the rice seedlings into the paddy months earlier is truly a most delightful moment. You just can't help but treasure every grain of rice thereafter...

2-Day-1-Night Bamboo Forest Experience (any time of the year)
The bamboo forest has an indescribable natural magnetic draw. Being in the bamboo forest, you can't help but be amazed by the life force of the long, slender yet ultra strong bamboo, growing in teamwork cluster, ever straight and upright, and be awed by the orderliness within a seemingly chaotic forest scene.
Bamboo is such a wonderful plant that feed us, clothe us, provide the material for construction of shelters, furniture, farm and household tools, and for weaving into all kinds of useful things.
In this Bamboo Forest Experience, Father Gun will lead you deep into the bamboo forest to appreciate the eco-diversity of plants and wild life there, show you the different kinds of bamboo, and the very wide ranging usefulness of bamboo. You will also enjoy a self-cooked meal with bamboo rice in the forest.
